You know what? Is it wrong that he likes to flirt with the ladies (even if they are younger)? I'm soooo sorry that you guys think that Ric Flair crushed your hopes because he didn't shake your hand. I was honored to be in his presence and I didn't get my hand shook, I didn't get my picture taken with him, I didn't hear him flirt with girls, I didn't even get a glance, but I was still in awe of his presence. It was worth the money that I have paid for and, I know, if I did pay 75 bucks for a VIP section I WOULD STILL be. I wasn't in awe at all. Sure, I clapped, but that was before he walked away from me having my hand out for a hand shake. I totally marked out for Christopher Daniels way more then I did for Flair (probably because I feel guys like Daniels are better wrestlers then Flair, but that beside the point). I was expecting to be in as much awe as I was for Claudio Castagnoli when he was a few feet away from me as he was walking to the ring but something in me just didn't get excited one bit. Don't get me wrong, I think bringing in Flair was a good business decision.

Ric Flair paved the way for guys like Claudio or Daniels way back when n made fans, like me, love to watch wrestling (even w/o seeing him in his prime) so there's respect on all fronts...so your comparisons...yet again...does not hold much water.

Here's my opinion: I wasn't starstruck by Flair like I thought I would be... but I chalked it up to him being humble and gracious at coming to meet some of his big fans. He DID say hello to me, smiled wonderfully for the camera with me, and said hi and thanks during the autograph even while I spatted out a quick story about me seeing him for the first time (Nitro when the Horsemen reunited in '98). In the end... I got what I knew I paid for. I shook the man's hand, got a frame-worthy picture with him, and an autograph of probably the Best Wrestler Ever thus far. That and a small sgive presents toch in the ring for $45 extra. Was it worth it?
If you're as big a Flair mark as I am, then say it with me.. Yes. It was.

nor do yours Rizzman because you didn't pay the $75 to get snubbed. You are like you say just a guy who likes to watch wrestling like everyone on here entitled to an opinion. How do you know what my opinion of Flair was before the show?? I have met legends who have eclipsed Ric Flair and knew how to act at an autograph signing but thats beside the point. Stylesclash likes Claudio and Chris more then Flair I respect that and see where he is coming from. Daniels can probably do anything in ring Flair could and then some. He can cut a mean promo too. Everyone can have an opinion and I think his does hold water.

I wish there wasn't more than one stylesclash here now, this may get confusing to some people lol. I'll just continue to sign my name at the end of my posts to differenciate.
Anyway, I'm just glad to have seen Flair live and to have been so close to someone who has done so much for wrestling. I didn't get to meet him personally, but him being there was a cool treat for an indy show and probably made IWC a lot of money, which I'm all for. Exposing IWC to so many first time fans is always good for ticket sales.

I would think that with Flair shaking so many hands and greeting so many people, that after a while he would get tired, grumpy, whatever.
I really think people are just way too sensitive.
I recognize this is our board and its pretty much boiled down to complaining about things that you didn't like about shows or about people you want to see, but I think you guys really need to get a thicker skin.
He won't be the best in some eyes, he won't be the worst in others. But the bottom line is you had the chance to meet and depending on what you purchased get your picture taken with one of if not the greatest wrestler of all time.
And he was gracious enough to stay the extra time to accomodate the fans.
And rather than see your own personal side of it, see it as a great opporunity to show some new fans our product, and hopefully not scare them away by reading a message board that is now mostly negative.

Meeting Flair was alittle bit of a let down because he didn't even look up at us, he just signed and then slide the item back as fast as he could, which made the entire "meet and greet" very impersonal. He didn't even respond when some people said thanks but despite all that, I really don't think Flair was trying to be rude. He was there nearly four hours and I don't think most people would be too happy if they had to meet most of the "classy" IWC crowd. As for N~Con's comment about Flair staying later, I doubt that was just out of the kindness of Flair's heart. Let's be honest here, Flair was paid to sign autographs and if he wanted to leave and decided to leave, what would of been done about the people that paid to meet him but didn't get a chance? The bottom line is, Flair stayed because that's what he was getting paid to do. A side note, I don't think having two lines made things go any faster.
That being said, I'm not any less of a Ric Flair fan because as I said, I don't think he was trying to be rude and getting to meet him was cool. Just because it was mentioned, I would also like to respond to N~Con's comment about the message board just being a place for fans to complain. I'm not exactly sure what you expect a message board to be, if everyone said everything was great then there's not much to actually discuss and if someone pays $20 or in this case $75 or whatever, they have a right to post their opinion about the show.
All of that aside, you really have to give the locals credit for putting on a really good show. Demarco, Micky, and Marshall all deserve alot of credit for the risk they took during the street fight. Gregory and Fabulous had a really good match and you have to give Henti alot of credit for the dive off of the balcony.

It has been a trend very recently for this board to be a place to fight. Not so much about a show. Just one picking on another or one group picking on another just because of their opinions. Just take a look around the board if you want verification.
I am not speaking of criticisms of events. That's fine and I have thick skin for that. I am speaking of negativity towards each other and sometimes out and out whining without a single moment of realization just how lucky fans in this area have it.

I don't see how you guys are upset. You paid to meet Ric Flair and he acted like Ric Flair... Isn't that what you would want?
He shook my hand twice, talked to me for a little over a minute, smiled, the whole nine yards. He was great. I probably would've marked out hard if I got to see him Naitch-up at some teenage girl... but what it comes down to is you paid for a photo and an autograph, not a conversation and a handshake.

My only complaint about the Flair thing is, when I was in line for autographs. My daughter and I were 1st in line for that, and things would have went faster and not lasted as long, if Highspots (I assume it was them), had Flair sign god only knows HOW much stuff before they started letting fans get their autographs. It must have been at least 20 minutes, with belts, pics, posters, ect..... before they started letting us in for that. He did not look to happy about all that.
He had signed so much, in fact, that when he went to sign my figure, his marker ran out of ink, which had me worried, but he carefully went back over the signature with a fresh one, which I wasn't expecting. Then, him and the guy sitting next to him made a nice comment about the poster I brought to get signed.
So, I have nothing bad to say about Flair, and the show was really, really good.

As for the complainers having thin skin, that's not true. Some of it gets out of hand I know but you mean to tell me you have never complained about something on this board. I also know how lucky I have it because N~Con is the one that got me started on the indys and I then soon found out about ROH, PWG, etc. So N~Con is the one to thank for that. The reason I didn't pay for Flair is because I think he only had a few actual wrestling matches, but that's just me. I definitely don't think Flair is the greatest compared to the likes of Kenta Kobashi, Mitsuharu Misawa, Toshiaki Kawada, among more, but once again, that's just me. I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I also believe everyone is entitled to disagree with some one else's opinion. If I payed 75$ I would at least expect him to look up at me. Also, Rizz, I feal that guys like Claudio and Daniels are better then Flair and I would be happy to provide arguing points if you would like me to do so.

Ric showed nothing but class when I meet with him he took the pictures signed 40 million autographs treated everyone with respect. I have met him b4 this show and every time hes been the classiest person around ;D. could you imagine hogan staying an extra hour hell even doing Indy shows. this is a once in a lifetime experience so what you had to wait in line to meet him you could have flown to north Carolina paid 800 dollars for a hotel convention tickets and for a flight and rental car I will 75 bucks was a small price to pay for what you got a meet and greet with the greatest of all time, hell I paid 25 dollars for him to autograph his book a couple of years ago. I dont see the true flair fans bitching. it was fun thank you N~Con thank you Ric you will always be the man. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
