I graduated high school in 2004, steady work history, 2.9 GPA in high school, 980 SAT. Solid essays, personal recommendations, etc.
What do you guys think my chances are of getting into Point Park or the main Pitt campus? I'd love to attend college there this fall, and was wondering if you guys could offer any pointers. I'm looking into either one's film program, and since most of you are from around that area, I'm hoping you guys would know a thing or two.
Thanks!

Point Park, a possibility.
Pitt Main is a little more of a long shot. With a 2.9 GPA and a 980 SAT, that's basically a C average.
I would reccommend going to one of the smaller Pitt campuses (I'm not sure what they got down that way, but Pitt Bradford is up my way). That way you can go there for two years, get your grades up and then get into Pitt Main after 2 years or so.

I got accepted to Point Park, last month. They gave me a chunk of Scholarship. My SAT scores were about average to below average, but my GPA was 3.7 to 3.8. They were the only school I tried for. I have been around their campus several times. It is nice & small. I can't wait until fall 07.

That way you can go there for two years, get your grades up and then get into Pitt Main after 2 years or so. Depending on what your major is, it really doesn't matter which University of Pittsburgh branch you go to. Although I'd assume that Pitt main offers more selection than the others, and possibly the only one that offers something to do with film. I'm really not sure as I haven't exactly looked into it since my major has nothing to do with that. Regardless, the degree you recieve from the branch campus is the same degree you recieve from Pitt main. What I mean by this is that it is a University of Pittsburgh degree, and if you went to Pitt Bradford for example your degree would be looked upon the same as one Pitt main. But to be honest, your chances of getting into Pitt main with those SAT scores and GPA might not be too high. And you may have to follow a course of action such as the one Supreme suggested if you feel the need to attend the main campus.
