I feel sad when I realize that a lot of you probably don't even remember the 95 SB.

I remember it. I was in 1st grade. My hopes were high as a kite... just like now. I remember all the hype. The "Here We Go" Chats were all over the Burgh. We watch Super Bowl XXX with those hope crashing down in Tempe, Arizona at the end of the night.

Hold on. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Pens in the conference finals? At this point, if they don't have the worst record in the league, period, I'll fall over in shock.

Remember when the Penguins made the playoffs for 10 straight years? And made the conference finals in 2000-2001?....They're not a bad team, they lose games by 1 goal, and put up a fight...it's just too bad that people who don't watch them ::cough::fairweather::cough:: anymore can't see this.

It's a shame that when Pittsburgh teams are winning that the residents in Sw Pa talk highly of them, but when they start losing them same residents are quick to bury them same teams they talk so highly of before.

See, I know what you're talking about, because I'm a Pirates fan. And the Pirates are the only thing that's even close to as bad as the Pens. And I do still watch the Pens, at least as much as I ever did. But there's no use in saying that NOW, they're a good team. They're simply not. They just can't get it done. It's like this: this is the first year since I got to Penn State that Penn State football had even a scrap of a chance. But before, everyone acted like they were this great team. They weren't. They were rubbish. A team isn't great based on past greatness. A team is only great based on how they are that year. And this year, the Pens couldn't salvage a winning record if Mario Lemiux could go back in time and draft a ten year younger version of himself to play every position.

I've given the Pens more than enough chances this year. They don't deserve my attention anymore.

agreed.
They're still a good team, their record doesn't show it, the problem is, people look at their record and see they lose by a goal or two..and immediately think they're horrible. Watch the game, they catch one bad break and the other team scores...they're not horrible. The Pirates, they're horrible...they haven't had a winning season since the early 90's. Maybe these FA signings they're making can possibly improve the team?

I thought this was a Stillers thread? They should win as they are clearly playing the best football right now. Seattle is good, but didn't look dominate against a team without an offense in the divisional round. Let's not forget Carolina was pretty much the walking wounded and/or dead in NFC title game. Steelers beat 2 very solid teams and the up and coming Bengals.
The point of this reply was to talk Pens. Not enough defense and too many veterans hanging on instead of helping. Fleury shows signs of being a quality NHL goalie, but with Gonchar and Orpick turning over the puck at the blue line, ain't nobody gonna win 'cept the other team. Crosby is going to live up to the hype and be a huge star someday. The coaching change appeared to be a step in the right direction, but has yet to pan out in terms of wins and losses. Some positives, but they just can't put it together right now. I look for a trip to the finals within 5 years of moving to Kansas City or Las Vegas.

Yeah. It's not that the Pens don't have anyone who can play like a pro, it's that they can't keep it up for a whole game. They make a lot of mistakes. They can't hang on to the puck, they're too hesitant about shooting, they don't have anyone who really looks like they're giving it 100% (besides Crosby), and Gonchar is just horrible.
The Pirates have been 'rebuilding' for about seven years now. I think the new manager will do more for them than anything else. They need someone to remind them that they can play.

My only beef with this whole thing is the refuned sports fan who for the previous 2 weeks have poured into the street my apartment overlooks and start screaming their friggin' heads off while i'm just trying to chill in my place. They did this for 2 hours straight, I mean jesus I have a dirty mouthin' christ people.
Other than THAT, good luck to the Steelers.

Me and my girl went to the dollar movie theater in West Mifflin on Friday and some refuns were driving all around the Century 3 area honking their horn, screaming their heads off, all so they could wave their terrible towels out the window.
