I'd rather see Wood and N~Con be refs then to see Foley come in again. I assumed that this is what N~Con was going to announce. It would have made perfect sense. Only problem I can see is that owners getting involved in storylines has really been done to death.

First off let me say that Foley is definately one of my favorites, and I am sure it will help draw more people to the show.
But in all honesty......is it worth the price to bring him in?

Yea it has but I think N~Con would have been good in the match. Foley makes every match he refs intresting so I'm glad to see him come. Plus I hope Extasy hits on him. That would be priceless. First off let me say that Foley is definately one of my favorites, and I am sure it will help draw more people to the show. But in all honesty......is it worth the price to bring him in? We shall see. I think it is.

Id rather see N~Con and wood ref much more than foley. With them being refs there can be more drama, it can mean more, who knows maybe set up another angle or something. It'll be nice to see foley because I've never met him. I dont think its worth it Dynamitekido, I know you gotta spend money to make money but i dont think this is the right call. Foley most likely charges a ton of money and if hes not wrestling, I think it's dumb to spend so much on him.

Couple things to consider.
1. N~Con (and most any other indy promoter) are lucky to break even on a show. More often than not, a show will lose money.
2. Assuming that most shows are around "break-even", Foley would have to draw a TON more fans to make up for his fee.
3. Neither you, nor I, nor anyone else knows what Foley's fee is for this show.
4. Maybe we ought to just wait and see if Foley DOES draw a considerably larger house. I suspect he won't, but you can't condemn the idea before the outcome is known.
EDIT: There's always the intangible of extra pub for IWC, which you can't put a price on.

Now, granted if Foley were actually WRESTLING(obviously this isn't the case here)it might be worth it to bring him in. But since it's only a secondary role.....it's kind of pointless. I understand that by bringing him in to ref the IWC Title match that it makes the match seem more important, and in this case.......I am sure that is why they are doing it. But, it would have made more sense to maybe bring in a couple "well known" indy guys that would have probably equaled Foley's paycheck. But I am only assuming that Foley's asking price is high......I don't really know for sure.

I agree with you dynamite, thats what i've been trying to say. I also think bringing in more established indy stars is a way better idea than spending the money on foley.

The thing here is that Foley has worked for N~Con since Steel City Wrestling so N~Con may not have to pay a huge few for him.
Either way it will be good to see Mick again.

To answer a couple of ?'s...
Most indy promoters do lose $...we however have been pretty lucky in that regard.
Foley probably is working at a different rate than you may have in your head. If I draw the same I did at Super Indy III, i make a little; if same as the cage, i do well.
The point of bringing in Foley is pretty simple- this time of year is the time when a lot of regular fans hit college or go back to school and generally lose interest in wrestling. You have to bring in this type of name to regenerate interest, or gain new interest in the product. While many of us were at the Butler Fair with Foley, the reality is the majority of the fans in this area were not. And with good advertising (which we will definitely have) and great promoting (which we will definitely have) we should do very well.
A good indication of this is with our regular fans alone. Instead of say someone ordering 3-4 tickets for this show, they are ordering 8-10. And this is pretty much across the board. And also factor in the ROH fans who will be making the trip, many of whom bought tickets already through the site, it should work out to be a good night.
And to say Foley isnt a draw I think is a major mistake. He ranks up there with the Rock and Austin as talent that has gone beyond the sport of pro wrestling.
Thanks
N~Con
PS I would prefer to not get involved that much with the shows...other than promoting them. When I do, its usually only to progress a story or put over the talent.

And one other thing to Dynamite Kido...I sure do appreciate you being a fan, but I couldnt disagree more with just about everything you post.
Spectre going to Japan is big not only for him, but for IWC as a whole. I am very proud of him.
Foley draws casual fans, more super indy type indy guys are going to draw the same fans we already have coming anyway. Its logical.
And while this board is made up of the super fans who have very distinct opinions on who we should have in, this board represents the minority, not the majority. Its not to say thats a negative, its just reality.
Dynamite, don't think I am trying to demean your opinion, I just happen to have a completely different one.
N~Con
